Measure the smoke density when test sample with a certain thickness (not exceed 25mm) is placed in a heat source of 25KW/m2 or 50KW/m2, and with flame inside the chamber.

Application:

NBS Chamber measures the smoke density when test sample with a certain thickness (not exceed 25mm) is placed in a heat source of 25KW/m2 or 50KW/m2, and with flame inside the chamber.

 

It’s used for research and development and fire safety engineering in buildings, trains, ships, etc.

 

Principle:

Mount specimen of materials horizontally inside NBS Chamber and exposed to thermal radiation on specimen upper surfaces at specified levels of constant irradiance up to 15kW/m2.

 

NBS Chamber collect the smoke evolved, which also contains photometric equipment. And measure the attenuation of a light beam that pass through the smoke. Report the results in terms of specific optical density.

Structure, Pressure & Temperature Control of Smoke Density Chamber

Test chamber interior dimension 914W*610D*914Hmm, steel structure, the inner surface coated with Teflon to prevent rust.

Chamber front door is installed by hinge, have toughened glass window and movable opaque light board to prevent light from entering the chamber.

Explosion-proof hole inside test chamber, area greater than 80,600mm², and have aluminum foil explosion-proof sheet to ensure the air tightness.

The top and bottom sides of test chamber each have a light window (diameter 75mm) to measure the smoke density.

The test chamber is fully sealed structure, which can generate positive pressure and maintain pressure through air intake. The pressure value inside chamber is measured by micro differential pressure transmitter, measuring range 0~2.5KPA.

10pcs U-shaped heating wires are installed on the external wall of test chamber to increase the average temperature. Stick thermocouple on chamber wall to measure the chamber temperature.

Radiation Cone Device & Control System

Radiation cone device consists of cone shell, heating tube, temperature measuring thermocouple, shielding layer, ignition device, etc.

Radiation cone shell material: heat resistant stainless steel, thickness 1mm; height of outer cover 45mm, inner diameter 55mm, base diameter110mm. With insulating material between inner and outer cover.

3pcs K-shaped thermocouples (diameter 1.5mm) are fixed on the cone at an angle of 120° to measure the temperature of heating wire, and the cone heat is adjusted through power regulator and temperature measurement module.

Power of electric heating wire: 2.2kW, coiled into cone by high temperature resistant electric heating tube with a diameter of 6.5mm. It can provide 10kW/m2~50kW/m2 radiation on the center of sample surface.

Igniter & Gas Supply System of NBS Chamber

Igniter is made of a stainless steel tube with OD 4mm and ID 2mm, which can provide a horizontal flame with a length of 30±5mm, flame is blue with yellow on the top.

Igniter is automatically ignited by high-voltage pulses, with an ignition voltage of 10 Kv.

Gas and air flow is controlled by MFC, flow range of propane MFC is 0~100ml/min, flow range of air MFC is 0~1,000ml/min.

Equipped with solenoid valve and ball valve, used to cut off the gas source after test and improve safety.

Sample Installation & Weighing System

Sample mounting device includes sample mounting frame, positioning frame, adjusting support rod, weighing device, thermal insulation material and protective box, etc.

Sample mounting frame is made of 1mm stainless steel, with an opening size of 78±1mm and a square box with height of 25±1mm.

Sample positioning frame is made of 1mm stainless steel, completely covered on the box of sample mounting frame, with a 65mm square hole on the top for the contact of sample and heat source.

Adjusting support rod is stainless steel sleeve type design, and the knob is fixed, which can easily adjust the installation position of specimens.

Siemens weighing device, measuring range 0~3,000g, accuracy 0.1g. The load cell is integrated with sample box to accurately reflect the actual weight and mass loss rate of sample.

The connection between adjusting support rod and load cell is insulated with bakelite block, and protective box is installed on load cell and insulated by Acid aluminum to ensure the working temperature of sensor and increase the service life.

Light Pass System of NBS Chamber

The light receiving and transmitting system is located on the top and bottom of chamber, transmits optical signals through sealed glass sheet.

Light transmitting device is provided by 6.5V incandescent bulb, composed of reflective bowl and convex lens to provide light source to inside chamber.

Optical receiving system adopts Japan Hamamatsu photoelectric amplifier to convert the receiving light source into signal source and provide it to the main program for calculation, accuracy 0.1%.

Install filter at receiving end to correct optical signal and improve stability. The shading rate 0, 10%, 50%, and 100%. Each shading gear is controlled by software and can be automatically switched.

Heat Flow Meter System

01

USA MEDTHERM thermopile heat flow meter, range 0~100 kW/m2, accuracy ±3%, repeatability±0.5%. Radiation receiving target is water-cooled, with durable matt black coating.

Heat flow meter is equipped with portable water cooling system, which comes with circulating water and water cooling device, no need external cooling water source. The control panel can display water temperature and water flow conditions, real-time monitor the cooling status.
